Privacy Policy
Debatably (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Debatably mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the App.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the App, we may collect:
- Account information — username, email address, password (stored hashed), and optional profile details such as age range, gender, or ZIP code if you provide them.
- Content you create — questions, answers, comments, votes, and related activity in the App.
- Usage and device data — app interactions, basic diagnostics, and technical identifiers needed to operate the service.
- Purchase information — subscription status and purchase tokens processed through Apple App Store or Google Play (we do not receive your full payment card details).
- Push notification data — a device push token if you allow notifications.
- Advertising data — if you are not a PRO subscriber, advertising partners may collect advertising identifiers and related data to show ads (for example rewarded ads).
The App does not request access to your photo library or camera and does not upload personal photos from your device.
2. How we use information
- Create and manage your account
- Provide core App features (questions, answers, comments, leaderboards, cosmetics, skips)
- Process subscriptions and unlock PRO features
- Send optional push notifications
- Show ads to non-PRO users
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve the App
- Respond to support requests
3. Legal bases (where applicable)
Where required by law (for example GDPR), we process personal data based on contract performance, legitimate interests (service operation and security), consent (where requested), and/or legal obligations.
4. Sharing of information
We may share information with:
- Service providers that help us host the App, send email, deliver push notifications, show ads, or process in-app purchases
- App stores (Apple / Google) for billing and subscription validation
- Authorities when required by law or to protect users and the service
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Advertising
Non-PRO users may see advertisements through third-party ad networks (such as Google AdMob). Those partners may use cookies, advertising IDs, or similar technologies subject to their own privacy policies. PRO subscribers receive an ad-free experience.
6. Data retention
We retain account and content data while your account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward as needed for backups, security, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. You may request deletion of your account by contacting us.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
8. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
9. Your choices and rights
- Update profile information in the App
- Disable push notifications in device settings
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in App Store / Google Play settings
- Request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data by emailing us
10. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect changes. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
